Rock Illustration #1: PUMICE

After drawing and painting countless human portraits and characters all my life, this is my first time to digitally paint and render a detailed rock, specifically a pumice. I watched a lot of rock painting tutorials on YouTube and also did painting studies of works from professional artists.

To me, rendering texture is the hardest part of the process as it also takes the longest time to do. But the funny part of my painting process is that I find it hard to render texture using texture brushes. I mainly use them as a base and then proceed to render the details manually using the basic round brush. I added some sketchnotes of pumice facts to make the illustration more fun!
